Pump not Working
Our products utilise airless pumps to dispense our products. Airless pump packaging is a popular choice for cosmetic products due to its ability to preserve the product's integrity and extend its shelf life. Here’s a basic overview of how these pumps work:
How Airless Pumps Work
Priming the Pump: Initially, the pump may require a few presses. This action primes the pump by creating a vacuum above the product.
Dispensing the Product: When the pump is pressed, it creates a vacuum effect that pulls the product upwards. Unlike traditional pumps, airless pumps do not allow air to enter the container to replace the dispensed product.
Rising of the Piston/Diaphragm: As the product is used, the piston or diaphragm at the bottom of the container gradually moves up. This movement is due to the vacuum pressure, ensuring a near-complete use of the product.
Air-Tight Sealing: Throughout the process, the container remains air-tight. This prevents air from entering and interacting with the product, which helps in maintaining the product's effectiveness and prevents oxidation or contamination.
Consistent Dosage: Each press of the pump delivers a consistent amount of product. This is beneficial for products where dosage is important.
Toubleshooting an airless pump not working
Troubleshooting an airless pump that's not working can often be resolved with a few simple steps. Here are some common issues and solutions:
- Pump Not Primed:
Solution: If the pump is new or hasn't been used in a while, it might need to be primed. Press the pump several times until the product begins to flow. Sometimes, this may require quite a few pumps. - Air Bubbles Trapped in the Pump:
Solution:Tap the bottle gently on a hard surface to release any air bubbles that may be trapped at the bottom of the pump mechanism. Then try priming again. Also try turning the pump upside down and pumping 10-15 times. - Nozzle or Pump is Clogged:
Solution: Clean the nozzle. You can do this by removing the pump and soaking it in warm water. If possible, use a thin pin to gently clear the opening of any blockage. This should not be an issue for new products. - Piston or Diaphragm Issue:
Solution: The piston or diaphragm may be caught and not moving. Gently tap the bottle to release the piston or diaphragm and then try priming with a few pumps.
